Looks simple enough, but no joy with:

virtual_alias_maps.map:
user.n...@example.com user1@localhost

status=bounced (mail for localhost.example.com loops back to myself)


And without the @localhost:
user.n...@example.com  user1

status=bounced (User unknown in virtual alias table)


I've got this set, which I don't think would cause the above loop:
myorigin = $mydomain
