Well... in my previous message, I altered the error message to 'remove' the true name of the server. Which does resolve (currently at least), and did so for several years. $ dig +short @8.8.8.8 our.server.name the_proper_server_ip Your answer seems nonetheless to point to a temporary DNS failure.
