Postfix will remove/return the mail after delivery tempfails AND
the message is already more than xxx_life_time old.
You have more mail in the queue than Postfix can process in your
maximal queue life time. With such loads it does not matter how
short you set the queue life time, you might just as well set it
to one minute.
thanks to both of you, I get the point and will check more deeply in the
logs to find the bottleneck !
