We have an outgoing mail server for our customers, emerald.lightlink.com, and an incoming spam server barracuda.lightlink.com.

I want to set the smarthost in emerald to point to the barracuda so outgoing mail gets scanned too on the way out.

However emerald is normally smart enough to know when it is delivering to local machines such as pop.lightlink.com, and normally delivers directly to them.

Now however everything emerald is sending to anywhere is going through the barracuda which is undesirable. We 'trust' our users and intraoffice mail to not spam each other, and they don't want the delay or the other vagaries of the barrcuda.

How do I get emerald to use the barracuda ONLY if mail
is NOT being finally delivered to a local machine on our net.

Emerald is presently running sendmail, but is about to be
updated to postfix like all out other mail servers, so a postfix
answer is in order.

Thanks in advance, pointers to RTFM more than welcome.

    Postfix rules!
