You need to STRACE the program that reads .forward files! That would

Thanks Wietsie,

I ran with:

local unix - n n - - local -D -vv

and found:

Oct 13 17:48:47 vpnspot postfix/local[12683]: deliver_dotforward[3]: local root recip r...@vpnspot.example.com exten deliver r...@vpnspot.example.com exp_from Oct 13 17:48:47 vpnspot postfix/local[12683]: deliver_dotforward[3]: set user_attr: root Oct 13 17:48:47 vpnspot postfix/local[12683]: mac_parse: $home/.forward${recipient_delimiter}${extension}
Oct 13 17:48:47 vpnspot postfix/local[12683]: mac_parse: $home/.forward
Oct 13 17:48:47 vpnspot postfix/local[12683]: set_eugid: euid 0 egid 0
Oct 13 17:48:47 vpnspot postfix/local[12683]: set_eugid: euid 89 egid 89
Oct 13 17:48:47 vpnspot postfix/local[12683]: deliver_dotforward: path /root/.forward expand_status 0 look_status -1 Oct 13 17:48:47 vpnspot postfix/local[12683]: deliver_mailbox[3]: local root recip r...@vpnspot.example.com exten deliver r...@vpnspot.example.com exp_from
Oct 13 17:48:47 vpnspot postfix/local[12683]: been_here: mailbox root: 0

I guess the important info is:

deliver_dotforward: path /root/.forward expand_status 0 look_status -1

On the other server, where it is working, I get:

Oct 13 18:08:02 dc postfix/local[19308]: deliver_dotforward: path /root/.forward expand_status 0 look_status 0 Oct 13 18:08:02 dc postfix/local[19308]: been_here: forward /root/.forward: 0

Can you provide your valuable guidance as to what happening?

Thanks,
Nick
