read OP message again. OP is talking about From:, which in "our"
terminology means the From header, not the envelope sender.

not all lists specify a Sender: header, and anyway, this header is
problematic... it works ok if only one node adds it. unclear what should
happen in a multi-node travel...

Return-Path is added at delivery time. it should not appear "on the wire".
