Hello All,

The company that runs the Parallels Panel Plesk VPS which is hosting my postfix at my request did an upgrade from 2.3.3 to 2.8 stable and the technician wrote the following:

I have grabbed the latest version of postfix from postfix in form of the source tarball. The most current version is 2.8.4, which is stable. This should present no problems instead of using 2.7
So I compiled postfix 2.8.4 as the same options as 2.3.3
Everything compiled correctly, and installed.

Also, I want to inform you why postifx 2.3.3 was on your server. The packages included with CentOS are delivered and maintained upstream. The CentOS devs control which versions are automatically pushed when you install from yum. 2.3.3 was the version found in yum. This is why I had to compile this from source and make the exclusion in yum.conf I hope that things work well for you.

Strangely doing tail /var/log/maillog shows now entries since after the upgrade and I have restarted the server and postfix several time. I am also getting relay access denied messages when attempting to send email to the server. Also having difficulty sending mail.

As I cannot find log files I cannot post logs :-(

I am not fearful of deleting the install myself as this server is not yet production and re-installing but could use some advice on the best way to do this.

I also see that the technician who installed the 2.8.4 left the original main and master files in place with those settings in place.

Any advice would be useful: please ask me what to post and how.

Thank you kindly.
