Doesn't it give you pause that the company providing this filtering
service doesn't provide you basic instructions on how to setup a proper
test environment?  Did they recommend you simply swap your MX record now
and switch it back if you don't like the service?  If so that would give
me great pause.

Why are you hesitant to name the service in question?  Doing so may
prove more beneficial than the question you've asked.
