Typically, the destination of delayed messages and the origin are not the same, and so notices back to the sender do not usually get delayed. However, a mail system should function sensibly under more adverse conditions. If delivery of notices shares a congested transport or nexthop with the delayed messages, multiple notices can and will compound the problem. -- Viktor.
