Looks like you found your answer. I can confirm that the
restrict_senders plugin works well. Another plugin that you might
investigate is the captcha plugin, which can present certain countries
or IP addresses with a captcha during login, or the lockout plugin which
locks an account after multiple failed attempts. This helps prevent some
of the automated attacks against webmail.
