So what happened is this:

Due to a mix of postfix and exim, SOME mails made it into exim's queue
(where they cannot be delivered AND are displayed using mailq, which
is exim's mailq)

Your solutions are:

* make exim run again and let it deliver the emails, then turn it off
  and deinstall it
* just delete the mails within exim (however this is done)
  and deinstall exim
