Adding something like "tls=none/encrypted/verified/secure" would allow
wimpy programmers like me to be more effective ... as writing a stateful
parser is going to stress my admittedly small fund of programming skill.

Of course, at some point (perhaps at this point!), you'll want to put
your foot down and refuse to add 'summary' information like this.

Myself, I don't have much sympathy for people who then become unhappy
with you,  unless, perhaps, if they are paying you for your time.  But
generally, it seems to me that folks who become are unhappy are trying
to get something for nothing, which is an empty project (does that
translate well?  I mean:  'unlikely to be successful').

Myself, I feel grateful for postfix as it is already -- thank you for
the work you've done on postfix; I appreciate the ease and security and
flexibility which your product has given me.

OK, off to tackle writing a stateful parser ... :)
