Hello
I'm migrating my mailhub.
on the fly I'm converting the mailboxes format from MBOX to Maildir
and I wonder how to use the vacation program ( or equivalent ) with
Maiidir format ?
vacation has nothing to do with the storage.
yes of course ... but do .forward still works with maildir format ?
I think you're still not getting it. Maildir has to do with how
MESSAGES are stored, NOT FORWARD/VACATION FILES. While maildrop can
handle delivering messages to the Maildir format just fine (and not
just to the inbox of course, but any folder you choose)
Vacation/Forward configuration is unrelated to the Maildir message
storage system.
**The Maildir directory isn't even examined during the forwarding
process.**
maildrop uses the HOME directory to search for the maildrop
configuration file. it all goes from there. see
http://www.courier-mta.org/maildrop.html
'maildrop' is flexible, and like any other configurable LDA, can
forward messages as well as deliver them locally as well as have a
conditional vacation response, possibly all at the same time. these
tools generally have too much power for the average user, not too
little (which seems to be your concern)
The thread is over I believe. If you like, start a new thread on how
to write a forwarding/vacationing $HOME/.mailfilter file properly.

I just realized that I hallucinated that you asked about maildrop as
part of your question. The first two paragraphs are relevant, but Ignore
my comments about maildrop unless they're helpful. :-)
