Looks like the same problem as Solaris.

Add:

    # define USE_WATCHDOG_PIPE

To the section enclosed with:

    #ifdef HPUX11
    ..
    #endif

Or compile with

    make makefile CCARGS="-DUSE_WATCHDOG_PIPE ..." ...

I will try the second and report if it fixes the watchdog.
