Use a real IMAP server backend, not /var/spool/mail. Cyrus, Dovecot, ... offer a much more performant and manageable mail-store. If you need quotas, (and even more so with per-user quoatas), don't waste time with /var/spool/mail mboxes. These are for a 1980's era shared mini-computer, or today's SOHO users with just one or two users on a personal machine. Not a modern mail server. -- Viktor.
