Increased to what? On my low RAM Lenny box it is $ cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max 38607 Quite a bit higher than the 8192 you're talking. I would think your system Ralf would already have a number much higher than this considering you probably have over 6 times the RAM I've got. -- Stan
