I have setup postfix/dovecot as per www.linuxmail.info with smtp
authentication and this seems to be working well.

The problem is with auto generated messages (like log reports etc) that
I want to forward to an external address. These seem to be getting
knocked down I assume by smtp authentication. Is there a way to allow
certain email (those generated by services) to be relayed?

don't require authentication when mail comes from some IPs. if you don't know how to do that, show your 'postconf -n' output (if you didn't lose the list welcome message, please take a look at. it is helpful).

(why do we still see @cloud9.net?)
