OK -- maybe I'm not asking my question in the right way... it appears that in every case, the "from" email address field is also the envelope sender -- is there a way to separate that, so what appears in a user's inbox as the 'from email' shows up as the from field, not the envelope sender automatically?
Because what we see is email address is the "from" email (vs. reply-to) -- and there doesn't appear to be a way to set the "From" email to something distinct from the envelope-sender. I hope I'm representing this correctly. What we want is the ability to have users send email from their email -- and have that email be represented in the From Email line (which is by default envelope-sender), and use SPF record for identifying our server as authorized to send emails on behalf of their domain, but have any bounces get automatically processed through OUR server -- not get sent to their email address. Is there a way to make this modification within Postfix? thanks, Kim On Thu, Feb 25, 2010 at 2:17 PM, Victor Duchovni < victor.ducho...@morganstanley.com> wrote: > On Thu, Feb 25, 2010 at 02:07:40PM -0600, Kim Albee wrote: > > > Is there a filter or a mod that can be made to Postfix that would have > the > > process that handles bounced emails within Postfix send the email to a > > different email address (i.e. email identified in specific header > variable) > > rather than the envelope-sender? > > The *only* purpose of the envelope sender is bounce processing.
