I'm afraid that you will be disappointed.  The overhead of TCP
versus UNIX-domain sockets is negligible compared to the overhead
of file system I/O. It takes considerable I/O horse power to get
past a couple thousand messages per second, whereas tests with
the smtp-source versus smtp-sink tools easily reach such rates.
