This is probably drifting off-topic, but I have a few questions regarding your setup...

* 3 FreeBSD 6.x as sending-only mailserver

What method are you using to spread your mailboxes across multiple boxes? It sounds like you're not using a single fileserver but hashing the accounts across servers...

Works like a charm.
Postfix+FreeBSD it's an amazing combination.

Some considerations:

* Branch 7.x it's more superior than 6.x in networking performance.

And if you use mysql, much better threading support...

* UFS2 it's good, but sometimes it's a bottleneck (especially if your're using a sof-RAID as gmirror(8). It's a good thing to tune FS.

This I've seen as well - gmirror can be dog slow. What options are you using when you newfs a filesystem for mailboxes (and are you using Maildir or Cyrus?)? Are you running default gmirror options? Are you running commodity SATA or SAS drives?

Thanks,

Charles
