Hello, Thanks. The mail is rejected, but it's generating bounce messages, whereas mail to unknown users that smtpd rejects doesn't get queued at all, mail addressed to mailman seems to start through the queue rather than be initially rejected. Thanks. Dave.

The /etc/passwd file does not come into play. Therefore, if mail...@example.com is not listed in the aforementioned map, mail addressed to that address is rejected.
