Perhaps a "cleanup -v" would give a hint. Obviously "smtpd -v" is not
helping. I often see these sort of symptoms with botched upgrades.
John, did something like that happen?
It's difficult to read upthread because your silly mail client breaks
threading, but all you suggested before was that the problem began when
switching from hash: to ldap: maps. Try pasting some postmap(1) -q
tests into your next mail. Is postmap(1) able to do the LDAP query?
