Short, no collisions, and has an 'x' to supply coolness. I am partial to "prefix," though, and agree that "bouncer" would just confuse people.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of "Sphinx." I'm saving "Oedipus" for the daemon that accidentally SIGKILLs its parent process after removing its own read permissions from /var/run.
