Dear list,
This morning I stumbled upon a strange problem. Mail delivery to an
exchange backend did not work:
refused to talk to me: 501 5.5.4 Invalid Address)
After some troubleshooting an googling I found

When using the contents of a file for the smtp_helo_name (or with e.g.
myorigin) it appends a '.' to the end of the hostname. And according
to the rfc this isn't allowed.
Why is postfix appending the . ?
