Thanks for those tips.
I'm using Android instead of iOS.
However I would have other uses for such a local email server as well.
And I think Email gives me maximum flexibility with my options without
having to install extra software.
I'm also looking into automating the process of taking photos with the
cellphone and having them emailed as soon as they are taken, where
sometimes they would be emailed through normal email servers when I'm
away from my network.
Would it be difficult to configure Postfix to be used in such a way? I
was looking around but I didn't see instructions that I thought were
particularly clear about that.
For example, could I simply use the static IP address of the host
computer as the domain of the email address?
Such as: email@192.168.1.10
I couldn't find much information about interfacing local email clients
with Postfix. Does anyone know of any good links for doing that?
Thanks,
Edward

There are several. The most popular is MacDroid, I use Phone Mechanic.
They all transfer over a USB cable which is probably faster than wifi.

Yes, provided that you configure it correctly.
Phil's response that email is not the ideal tool for file transfer is
not wrong.
You could easily turn on SMB file sharing on that OS X machine. iOS
has builtin SMB support via the Files app and while I don't really
track Android capabilities, I am sure that if there isn't a builtin
SMB client, there has to be an app.

Hello,
I'm looking for a way to transfer images and videos from my mobile
devices to an OS X computer on my local network by emailing that
information locally, where I would like to have a Postfix server
running on OS X which would enable not needing that information to be
sent through an email server on the internet. In particular I want to
be able to transfer large video files without any upper size limit.
Would I be able to access Postfix with my email client softwares
locally on the network just like accessing any external email server,
including to send large attachments?
Thanks for your help.
