They were not, and a lot of the criticisms still stand to this date
(like feature creep, bloating PID 1, binary log corruption, broken
promises to not hard-wire dbus to Systemd, ...). But that's largely
off-topic for this mailing list, so let's not open this can of worms,
shall we?
