People who actually use Dovecot for submission might know.
I'm not even sure whether Dovecot's submission facility ever talks to Postfix.

I was wondering what's the point of dovecot's submission service.
- as I see it, postfix' restrictions are not applied when dovecot is used.

According to this page, submission makes sense if MTA does not support authentication.

Are there different reasons to use dovecot for MSA?
