Many moons ago I was told to put "smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=no" in main.cf, blocking the function everywhere, and then put "-o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes" in the submission stanza(s) in master.cf, expressly enabling it *just* there.
this setting is default, users that set it to yes in main.cf makes it global with is a error
it should only be set to yes on specific ports in master.cf , here not may just std 465 or 587, but not 25 should be changed to yes
