There are lots of hits when you search the web for:

Likely one of them will have the answer.

I've tried a couple but without success. Also, I fixed main.cf per mouss'
message. I had cut and pasted that from the README file without ensuring it
was correct for me.

I created /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd/ and changed perms to 777
for /var/spool/postfix/var and its subdirectories. Are these the correct
perms?

Also, I changed /etc/passwd so postfix's home directory is
/var/spool/postfix rather than /home/postfix.

  Now /var/log/maillog has this series:

Aug 29 13:58:03 salmo postfix/smtpd[20108]: warning: SASL authentication
failure:
cannot connect to saslauthd server: Permission denied
Aug 29 13:58:03 salmo postfix/smtpd[20108]: warning: SASL authentication
failure:
  Password verification failed
Aug 29 13:58:03 salmo postfix/smtpd[20108]: warning:
salmo.appl-ecosys.com[192.168.55.1]:
SASL PLAIN authentication failed: generic failure

I've made sure that saslauthd is running, too.

  What have I still missed?
