I don't know if this is relevant, but I have noticed the following :
- My "Airplay" device Libratone Loop wifi/BT (released end-2014) goes
to sleep when playing music via the bridge after 3 or 4 hours.
- The same device does not sleep when playing the audio part of a video
playlist. I could confirm that further by using the Loop as the audio
sink of iPeng's player -on iPad, up-to-date iOS- if you wish.
- My AppleTV 1 device does not go to sleep during a similar exercise.
This is an "Airtunes" device, it runs aTV OS 2.3, released mid-2008. I
have tested this first with the device wired, receiving a PCM stream for
something like 8hrs. I connected it through wifi to confirm, this time
with -dev8, playing AAC for over 5hrs before I stopped it.
NB: Wifi signal quality differs. Loop sits <2m from the AE, it uses
wifi-G and reports an RSSI around -45, the AppleTV, much farther away
uses wifi-N and reports an RSSI around -80.

Devices and protocols generations??
