In my mind it's important to support the few third party developers that are remaining, else we can easily end up with no supported third party plugins and all development done by Logitech, and we all know how active Logitech has been during the last year. It's possible to support third party developers through nice comments, providing ideas for new features or donating or purchasing licenses, but independent which path you select it's important to support them if you want third party development to continue on the Squeezebox platform. If we just take them for granted and aren't willing to encourage them we are soon going to end up with even less third party developers than we have today. I can honestly say that it was a bit easier to motivate yourself on the Slim Devices era because then you sometimes got free hardware and the chance to participate in hardware beta testing, but this really isn't the situation anymore so it's now important that people support the few third party developers we have left if you want them to remain. I know cparker (developer of Spicefly Sugarcube) has spent a lot of effort to create a detailed support site/forum at http://www.spicefly.com to make it easy to get help when using his plugins. There big advantage of using Sugarcube v4 except for the above and except for all the improved functionality, is also that you also get official support, so if something doesn't work, just report it and I'm sure cparker will help you troubleshoot and correct the issue if it's related to the code in SugarCube. Also, for me personally, purchasing a plugin license or sending a donation in the niche market Squeezebox is, isn't just about purchasing a specific plugin, it's more about encourage the developer to continue to be creative and improve existing plugins and even make completely new ones. Someone that use SugarCube a bit more than me will have to answer your specific question, but if you like to encourage cparker to continue his excellent work I think you should purchase a license independent if you decide to stay on v3 or use the newer v4 version. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95782 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
