One more question. What client are you using to control the Squeezelite player under Moode? Does Moode provide its own player UI or do you use a client app such as Squeezer or iPeng? I'm curious as to where the unusual "power off" / "pause" command combination is being generated. Although there's nothing technically "illegal" about it, I've never seen it before and it actually revealed what I believe to be a longstanding timing vulnerability in the "power off" logic that's now been fixed thanks to your help.
