Just to let you know, I'm facing a similar issue with Spotty v4.8.4 in Connect mode. It has for months stopped playing occasionally, but recently it has got much worse and now rarely plays more than one track. I'm running LMS v 7.9.2 on amd64 on Debian. The helper application is version 1.3.0 I'm using a Client ID with one account. Using Spotty from the LMS interface is fine, it's just the Connect interface that's not working perfectly. I'm going to try upgrading LMS to version 8+ to see if it helps. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to test in this environment.
