When using this plugin, the Volume Control setting should always be set
to "Output level is fixed at 100%" in order to provide a fixed
line-level input to the preamp of your AVR. Otherwise, you are
effectively running with two preamps in series, both controlled by the
same volume control. An LMS client volume setting of 40%, for instance,
will result in a signal of .40 times .40, or 16% of full volume.
Similarly, 50% will yield 25%, etc. Some client apps (SqueezeCtrl for
one) confusingly require setting an app preference in order to process
volume requests when the LMS player level is set at 100%. Most work fine
without any special consideration. The most important reason to use the
fixed 100% output level is to avoid modifying the digital signal in the
analog domain, which can introduce distortion.
