AVP-A1HDCI is a preamp only and was made in 2008. There was a hardware upgrade that was installed in 2012 that added 3D video and extra Audessy support. And yes, I never even noticed (or cared) about the QS setting volume before. You made me look. :-) I'll check to see what 3 seconds is like. But like I said, this was the first unit that had networking. I would not worry about chasing this issue. The technology within this unit is old, but the music side is superior to whatever is made today. Its still a flagship from that perspective. Kind of like driving an old Porsche. :-) BTW I updated the copywrite dates and release history for the latest round getting it ready for 3.0. None of the code was changed so use this if you make changes.
