Hi, Reviving this topic - we talked about this years ago but I think it's worth revisiting.
About the lack of open source contributions - Dean Berris puts it well: http://deanberris.com/on-open-source-and-the-philippines Now this hits a nerve because it's one of my personal frustrations - I haven't been able to contribute to open source in a long time. Hope we could get the younger kids to do it. I remember one conclusion from last time was that if someone had the talent and the time, they would better spend it on a sideline rather on working on an open source project. I also came across Red Hat's map of open source activity: http://www.redhat.com/about/where-is-open-source/activity/ I don't think this is accurate - that the Philippines is 70th out of 75 in community activity? _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List http://lists.linux.org.ph/mailman/listinfo/plug Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
