I'm running an Ubuntu 10.04 box as an SMB file server. Its SATA drive
unexpectedly died this afternoon.

Our tech guy said he saw a flurry of "I/O error" message on the
screen. Because he could not shutdown properly, he just hit the reset
button. After that, we could no longer access the drive. It's even not
detected in the BIOS settings anymore. We also tried it with other
boxes to see if it can get detected, but failed.

Also, it makes a whining sound whenever the BIOS tries to detect it.

Could anyone help us with data recovery? We have very important files in it.

Our drive: SEAGATE Barracuda 250GB 7200 Serial ATA

Help will be greatly appreciated.
