I just read your blog. It seems your Wind (+ows?) is a hard disk model. From my Google survey of users who have hacked their netbooks to run their favorite distros, the No. 1 problem appears to be the solid state drive (SSD). This is besides the common notebook problemos with non-working wifi and winmodems. Improper SSD configuration it seems prevent notebooks from, among other things, hibernating properly. The preinstalled Linux probably makes use of some exotic startup settings. My own Panasonic non-netbook is running fine with a stock XUbuntu 8.0.4.1 installation. The only problem is the winmodem (for dialup and fax). There's supposed to be a Linuxant try-before-you-buy (14 kbps max) solution, but I'm too lazy to bother since I don't plan to buy the full version anyway. (FYI, typed in Google Chrome running under Wine (using the Codeweavers Ubuntu package. The binary installs in /opt) _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List http://lists.linux.org.ph/mailman/listinfo/plug Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
