Yes, I say pro-choice for that is the nature of a DEMOCRATIC society and a
DEMOCRATIC form of Government. As far I can remember, no government has
completely and absolutely regulated / controlled / mandated the use of
specific SW in both public and private sectors. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A MATTER
OF CHOICE. I am an M$ user for TWELVE years now, and not as an official
representative of the M$ universe. I do not collectively represent the
thoughts / sentiments of other M$ users and users / developers of commercial
software. I only represent MY beliefs on this issue.

"The commercial reps misunderstand (or misrepresent) FOSS as a technology.
It is not. FOSS is about insisting on a bundle of rights with respect to
software -- the right to use, to share with other, and to modify the
software."

Do not evangelize F/OSS. F/OSS is just an acronym for "free and open source
software".hence technology. No need to be overzealous about it.

This is where things get complicated. You say "pro-choice". Yet, when the

government finally *makes a choice*, and says "let's choose FOSS", the

commercial software reps cry out "mandatory".

The commercial reps misunderstand (or misrepresent) FOSS as a technology. It

is not. FOSS is about insisting on a bundle of rights with respect to

software -- the right to use, to share with other, and to modify the

software.
