Hi,

I want to get rid of the the desktop icons in gnome.
I found out that through gconf-editor you can make home directory as your desktop.
But in that case all the directories etc would show up on my desktop.
Presently I just rm * the contents of .gnome-desktop.
I tried "chmod -rx"ing it, but then I get an annoying pop when I log in saying its not writable.
Are there any better ways to get round this?
I am using Gnome 2.2 on RH9.0.

Thanks,
Hemant
