Hmm. I really do not want to blindly trust upstream binary code, but now that I know it is a bzip2, perhaps I can invent some routine to unpack as source locally, check those unpacked sources for changes (similar to my copyright-check routine now in CDBS utils.mk), and if ok then go ahead and invoke it...

Ugly, but doable, I think.
