Ryan, by the way, jackd1 is still under active development. There are three things that jackd1 support that jackd2 doesn't: 1. OSS. IIRC some sound cards are still only supported by the 4Front driver (http://www.opensound.com/oss.html), and/or some users prefer to use this driver. There's a reasonably recent thread on the topic here: https://musescore.org/en/node/111586 Please note I'm not vouching for the validity of any of those posts, only that there exist users who appreciate this option. 2. I don't have recent citations for this, but I've read that some pre-2008'ish interfaces work better with jackd1. 3. Built-in multi-soundcard support, and built-in MIDI support. Some users prefer this method. -- https://github.com/jackaudio/jackaudio.github.com/wiki/Q_difference_jack1_jack2 Personally I use jackd2, and found the jackd1 vs jackd2 thing confusing when starting out. We really ought to enhance documentation somewhere. The wiki would be a good place to start. Regards, Nicholas
