PHP to Excel, aka BiffWriter is a generic class to create Excel compatible streams or files from PHP. It is quite hairy, especially because the PHP COM implementation does not yet implement all the needed VARIANT subtypes (most notably multi dimensional safe arrays), so a lot of objects are not yet reachable. If writing true XLS files is essential though, one can say it is possible.
