You have to recompile PHP with oci support.
Normally, you shouldn't have to recompile Apache.
In you Apache startup control script, export all Ora env vars before you
start Apache.
Also, use LD_PRELOAD for threads support.
In my case (SuSE.6.4) LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libpthread.so
