The problem is that I cannot find a way to set up an appropriate sftp-server. My tunneling with ssh does not work as it should; I'm still working on it...

Just what exactly is the problem? AFAICS its use is similar to the plain ftp_connect() -- and there are plenty of examples on how to use that.
