Dear all, The Immoralism Reading Group will run through Michaelmas and Lent terms and is open to all students and staff. We will meet to discuss work on the limits to the appropriate application of moral concepts and values, and the problems we run into when we exceed those limits. Our reading list is tbd and open to suggestions, but is likely to include selections from work by Susan Wolf, Richard Wollheim, Iris Murdoch, Bernard Williams, and Daniel Jacobson.
We will meet fortnightly during term time from week 2, Wednesdays 1030am, in the (philosophy) Faculty Board Room. Our first session is Wednesday 23 October, 1030am, Faculty Board Room. We will discuss chapters 3 ('Morality and Partiality') and 8 ('Meaning and Morality') from Susan Wolf's Variety of Values. Online access is available via the University Library (https://bit.ly/2M91yWA). If you're interested in joining the group please subscribe to our mailing list: https://lists.cam.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/soc-immoralism We hope to see you there. Best wishes, Matt Bennett Nakul Krishna _____________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the CamPhilEvents mailing list, or change your membership options, please visit the list information page: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEvents List archive: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEventsArchive Please note that CamPhilEvents doesn't accept email attachments.
