On 12 and 13 December (2015), a conference is taking place in Beijing (at
Peking University) on Thinking, Immateriality and the Self in the Philosophy
of the Long Middle Ages. It will be the second of two conferences on this
theme held in conjunction with the Philosophy Department of Peking
University (and supported by a British Academy grant). The first, which some
of you reading this may have attended, was in July, at the Philosophy
Faculty here. I am looking for three or even four Cambridge people to speak
at the conference. Although the focus is on the period c. 500 - 1700, not
all the papers at the conference need be historical (or on that period), so
long as they relate to its overall theme. Speakers will have their tickets
and) visa costs paid, and they will be accommodated and entertained before
and during the conference by Peking University. Anyone wanting to extend his
or her stay will very probably be able to do so, at limited expense, and
there may be opportunities to arrange to give further papers at Peking
University or elsewhere. If you are interested in finding out more about
this opportunity, please contact me at [email protected]
