When asked how she would like to be remembered, Andrea Dworkin replied:
"In a museum, when male supremacy is dead. I'd like my work to be an
anthropological artifact from an extinct, primitive society".

Ten years after her death, what is the relevance and resonance of Andrea
Dworkin’s work today?

Andrea Dworkin, Radical Feminist activist and author of books such as
Pornography: Men Possessing Women, Woman Hating and Intercourse, developed a
searing analysis of the myriad forms of men’s violence against women.

Ten years after her death, the globalised sex industry has expanded beyond even
what Dworkin herself might have imagined. Violent, misogynist online
pornography is available and accessible in unprecedented ways. In countries
where prostitution is legalised, we are now seeing 'mega-brothels', 'flat-rate
brothels' and outdoor 'sex boxes'. Sado-masochistic sexual practices are
normalised and mainstreamed through the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon. 1 in 3
women globally will experience some form of male physical or sexual violence.

A powerful line-up of academics and activists at this conference will revisit
Dworkin’s work and consider the ongoing relevance and resonance of Radical
Feminism ten years after her death. It is an urgent and necessary conversation.
Come and be part of it!
