Hi all,

I have a hankering to read some David Lewis and one of Steve Yablo's
books has been staring up at me from Kyle's desk for weeks and making me
jealous. So in between terms I'm going to be reading some papers by each
of these philosophers (if I remember the agenda of the last
staff-student committee right Yablo will be visiting Cambridge next June
so for those who are unfamiliar with his work there's an additional
incentive to read some of it).

I know a lot of you will be away between terms but while I'm reading the
papers anyway, I figured I may as well see if anyone wanted to meet up
and chat about them so I'm going to run a fairly casual reading group in
December and January. If you're interested in coming for some or all of
the weeks, drop me an email and I'll send a reminder around closer to
the time.

Planned readings

9th December at 2 o'clock - New Work for a Theory of Universals (David
Lewis)

16th December at 2 o'clock - Does Ontology Rest on a Mistake (Steve
Yablo)

6th January at 2 o'clock - What Puzzling Pierre Does Not Believe (David
Lewis)

13th January at 2 o'clock - Abstract Objects: A Case Study (Steve Yablo)

We'll probably just meet in the graduate break room (or whatever that
room is called) unless doing so turns out to be a problem (in which case
I'll arrange somewhere else).

Adam
