The first Lent term meeting of the Philosophy of Science Reading Group will take place at 2pm-3.30pm on Thursday 19th January in HPS Seminar Room 1.
This term we will be reading a selection of articles by John Dupré. Together, the readings are a good introduction to John's influential work on biological ontology and human nature. On March 8th, John himself will be joining us for a Q&A session. In the first two weeks, we will be discussing John Dupré's Spinoza lectures, _The Constituents of Life_ (2006, van Gorcum; reprinted in his forthcoming collection, Processes of Life). Let me know if you would like a PDF of the readings. The full programme can be found here: http://www.hps.cam.ac.uk/seminars/pos.html All are very welcome to attend the meetings, including graduate students and staff from any department. SPECIAL OFFER FOR THOSE ATTENDING THE GROUP John has kindly a provided a limited number of copies of _The Constituents of Life_, which we are giving away in return for a £2 donation to Oxfam. Please email me to request a copy. I will collect the donations at the first meeting of the group. Please note that this offer is intended for people who intend to come to at least the first two meetings. _____________________________________________________ Sent by the CamPhilEvents mailing list.
